"Singing for Peace and Justice Since 1984"



The Charlottesville Women's Choir sings primarily a cappella music from a variety of cultural traditions; our themes include women's issues, peace, justice, and spirituality. CWC started in 1984 with just 11 members; 25 years later, CWC has grown to 30 members and continues its tradition of singing at various vigils, services, and an annual spring benefit concert.



In the past, CWC has donated proceeds of the spring concert to local charities such as SHE (Shelter for Help in Emergency), SARA (Sexual Abuse Resource Center), “The Courage Fund” of the Quality Community Council, Barrett Child Care Center, Skyline Girl Scouts, PACEM for women, and WomanBuild.



Membership in CWC is opened each autumn; potential members are encouraged to attend the recruitment sessions in September. These will be announced in this space.

This year's recipient is the Walker Upper Elementary School Choir, under the Direction of Virginia Hill.

Donations accepted at the door. Suggested donations:

Adult: $5 - $15
Child (5 to 12 years): $4
Children under 5 years: Free
